About Piyara Airline

An airline for southern Sri Lanka

Piyara Airline is being established as a scheduled airline and airport services company based at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in southern Sri Lanka.

The south coast of Sri Lanka — Yala, Tangalle, Mirissa, Bundala — receives millions of visitors, but has no direct air access. Every tourist flies into Colombo and transfers by road for four to five hours. Every kilogram of seafood or spice exported from the Southern Province goes the same way in reverse. The infrastructure for a different model already exists: Mattala has a 3,500-metre Code 4F runway, a passenger terminal, and a cargo terminal. What it needs is a company willing to operate it.

That is what Piyara Airline is being built to do.

What we do

Three integrated operations

Scheduled airline

Passenger services connecting Mattala to regional cities, starting with the routes that carry the highest tourism and business traffic into Sri Lanka. Narrow-body jet operations with an air operator certificate in planning.

Airport ground operations

Ground handling, passenger services, fuel coordination, and flight support for every airline that uses Mattala — not only our own. International-standard turnaround for narrow-body and wide-body aircraft.

Cargo & logistics

A cold-chain capable air cargo facility giving Southern Province producers — seafood, spices, garments — a direct export route. Hambantota International Port is 18 km away, creating an air-sea logistics corridor that does not exist anywhere else on the island.
