Sri Lanka's south coast
Where leopards walk
and whales breach
The highest leopard density on earth. Blue whales in season. Beaches with no footprints. Temples older than most countries. All in one stretch of coastline that most travellers have never heard of.

This is what's waiting
Yala National Park
The highest leopard density on earth. Elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and 200 species of birds. Safari at dawn, beach by lunch.
Tangalle
Deserted golden beaches, boutique hotels hidden in the jungle, and sea turtles nesting on the shore. The south coast the guidebooks haven't found yet.
Mirissa
Blue whales — the largest animal that has ever lived — pass through here every season. Whale watching in the morning, surfing in the afternoon.
Bundala
A Ramsar-listed wetland. Flamingos, pelicans, painted storks, and elephants at the water's edge. One of Asia's great birdwatching destinations.
Tissamaharama
A 2,200-year-old white dagoba reflected in the lake. The ancient capital of southern Sri Lanka and the gateway town for Yala safaris.
Matara & Dondra
The southernmost point of Sri Lanka. A colonial fort, Asia's oldest lighthouse, and dramatic rocky headlands where the Indian Ocean crashes.
The catch
So why isn't everyone going?
Because getting there has always been the hard part. Every international flight lands in Colombo — on the opposite side of the island. From there it's a five-hour drive on winding roads to reach the south coast. Half your first day is gone before you see the sea.
That's why we started Piyara.
We fly you direct
Skip Colombo entirely
Piyara Airline flies direct to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport — the international airport already built in the south of Sri Lanka. A 3,500-metre runway. A full passenger terminal. It's been waiting for an airline. Now it has one.
You land in the south. Not in Colombo. Not anywhere near Colombo. You land where the leopards, whales, and beaches actually are.
Why fly Piyara
Your holiday starts at the gate
We're not a budget airline squeezing you in. We're not a flag carrier charging you for everything. Piyara is built for one thing: getting you to the south coast of Sri Lanka with the least hassle and the most comfort.
All-In fares
Flight, bags, bus transfer — one price. No add-ons, no surprises, no checkout tricks. What you see is what you pay.
Bus transfer included
Your ticket includes a seat on the Piyara bus from the airport to your destination. No taxis to negotiate. No apps to download. Just board.
Sri Lankan hospitality
Sri Lankan crew. Sri Lankan food. Your holiday starts the moment you board — not when you land.
Bags included
Checked baggage is part of every fare. You're going on holiday — of course you have luggage.
Land where you're going
The only airline based at Mattala. We don't fly to Colombo and leave you to figure out the rest. We fly to the south coast.
Book it all in one go
Flight, transfer, and hotel — packaged together. One booking, one confirmation, one less thing to worry about.
We take you all the way
From aircraft door to hotel door
When you land, our bus is already waiting. Air-conditioned, Wi-Fi, luggage space — timed to every arrival. One route, four stops, every destination on the south coast within reach. No taxis, no negotiating, no guessing.
The difference
Two ways to reach the south coast
